Misc. Love 47...
We all have the potential to fall in love a thousand times in our lifetime. It's easy. The first girl I ever loved was someone I knew in sixth grade. Her name was Missy; we talked about horses. The last girl I love will be someone I haven't even met yet, probably. They all count. But there are certain people you love who do something else; they define how you classify what love is supposed to feel like. These are the most important people in your life, and you'll meet maybe four or five of these people over the span of 80 years. But there's still one more tier to all this; there is always one person who you love who becomes that definition. It usually happens retrospectively, but it always happens eventually. This is the person who unknowingly sets the template for what you will always love about other people, even if some of those lovable qualities are self-destructive and unreasonable. The person who defines your understanding of love is not inherently different than anyone else, and they're often just the person you happen to meet the first time you really, really want to love someone. But that person still wins. They win, and you lose. Because for the rest of your life, they will control how you feel about everyone else. -Chuck Klosterman, Killing Yourself to Live
It is a risk to love. What if it doesn't work out? Ah, but what if it does? -Patrick McWilliams
Don’t let go too soon. But don’t hang on too long. -Mitch Albom, Tuesdays With Morrie
It's kind of like he's one of those songs that goes around and around in your head, and you just can't get it out. -Beatrice Sparks
You can’t force love, I realized. It’s there or it isn’t. If it’s not there, you’ve got to be able to admit it. If it is there, you’ve got to do whatever it takes to protect the ones you love.
The things that people in love do to each other they remember, and if they stay together it's not because they forget, it's because they forgive.- Indecent Proposal
It takes so little not only to change something, but to make you forget the way it once was, as well. -Sarah Dessen, Lock & Key
You can ask the universe for all the signs you want, but ultimately, we see what we want to see when we're ready to see it. - How I Met Your Mother
I learned very early in life that I was always going to need people a little more than they needed me.
A high school boyfriend isn't a husband; he's an obstacle. – Smallville
Maybe your first love is the one that sticks with you because it's the only person who will ever receive all of you. After that, you learn better. But, most of all, no matter what, a piece of you forever remains left behind in the heart of the one you loved - a piece no future lover could ever get, no mater what. That piece holds innocence - the belief that love really can last forever. It holds friendship and pain, trial and error, that one kiss you’ll never forget and that night under the stars you can never get back. It holds youth and everything you thought love would be. Everything that was proven wrong.
It may have just been a moment to you, but it changed every single one that followed for me. -Ian Thomas
To put it another way, people are people and people fall in love with people. Some people have a narrow spectrum of who fits into their scope of potential mates and some people have a wider scope of possibilities. Again, it comes back to this: 'There is no accounting for attraction.' This is proven every time someone who fits into a category outside your usual scope of attraction (whether it be the gender, the hair color or the fact that he'd rather play football then read a book) knocks your socks off and you know he or she is not your 'type,' yet you can't stay away. In these situations, there is no need to fret. Just repeat after me: "I'm OK .' 'There's no accounting for attraction.' That's really the bottom line. You're going to feel whatever you are going to feel, and you can't place a judgement on it of good or bad or right or wrong or normal or weird. They're feelings. We don't have any control over them. So, feel whatever you feel, and then make thoughtful choices about what you do. The doing is the part you can control.
All love shifts and changes. I don’t know if you can be wholeheartedly in love all the time. -Julie Andrews
A healthy relationship keeps the doors and windows wide open. Plenty of air is circulating and no one feels trapped. Relationships thrive in this environment. Keep your doors and windows open. If the person is meant to be in your life, all the open doors and windows in the world, will not make them leave. Trust that truth.
And I've always lived like this keeping a comfortable distance. And up until now I sworn to myself that I'm content with loneliness. Because none of it was ever worth the risk. -Paramore.I think we’re just going to have to be secretly in love with each other and leave it at that. - The Royal Tenenbaums
You have to find something. Something that anchors you, something that keeps you looking forward. Even on the bad days, the days when you’re tempted to look back.
