And even though we know we shouldnt love them we do.. and always will.. because there are just a small number of people in this world who will "get" us for reasons we cant explain.. even when they shouldnt and even when time has elapsed since we've last talked

Well... it was empty actually, but at least I was blissfully unaware of how miserable I was. Where as now... because of you... I am acutely aware of how completely and totally unhappy I am. It was a catch-22: if you didn't put the trauma behind you, you couldn't move on . But if you did put the trauma behind you, you willingly gave u your claim to the person you were before it happened

And I'm worried...I, I'm afraid that he took away my ability to believe. And I hate him for that. Because I always believed before. And now I just feel...lost. And I am, I'm trying to put myself out there, but... I feel hopeless. 

I felt something catch in my throat, a sudden surge of sadness that caught me unaware. It almost managed to take my breath away. That was the thing; you never got used to it. You never got used to the idea of someone being gone. Just when you think it's okay, and you think you've accepted it, someone points it out to you, and it hits you all over again, and it's just as shocking as the first time.

You think that you can use up your love. I think you can blow it all on one person. You can love so much, so deeply, that there is nothing left for anyone else. 

Sometimes it's hard to know what's real when you're not, 'cause you know I change myself to impress whoever happens to be next to me, but I'm sick of trying so hard. 

No one will ever love you as much as I do. Why isn't love enough?!

A broken heart should be visible. Something that hurts that much should not be hidden. The pain, much worse than broken bones, knife wounds, gunshots, chemotherapy, tumors or boils, should be swathed in long, white bandages. The wounded should appear on crutches or in a wheelchair for their heart. Then people would know. They would recognize the injured, they would see the damage and understand, care offer, a kind word. Love is so much like war and a relationship only one long seige, the defenses going up and down as the fortune changes the allies transfer. Couples should wear combat uniforms. The would be bright and freshly ironed in the first days of romance. Then the material would become stained, begin to fray. We would lose a button or two. Anyone looking at us would know where we were, how far we had come. Only the shiny epaulet still attatched, but somehow a symbol of hope. We would emerge victorious. 

Because he has been a major part of your life, of course you'll miss him; it's perfectly normal. It's like getting a tooth pulled out; after the dentist pulls it out you're relieved. But how many times does your tongue run itself over the spot where the tooth once was? Probably a hundred times a day. Just because it was hurting you does not mean you don't notice it. It leaves a gap, and sometimes you see yourself missing it terribly. It's going to take awhile, but it takes time. Should you have kept the tooth? No, because it was causing you pain. Pulling the tooth was the right decision, but it's going to hurt.

Love doesn't walk away, people do.
